Command driving position
Freelander benefits from the classic Land Rover command driving position. This places the driver in an elevated position, inspiring confidence and a feeling of being in control. The improved visibility afforded by the Command driving position also means potential hazards can be spotted well ahead of time |

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
Freelander is designed to stop quickly and safely, ensuring that you are always in control. Its 4-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) monitors the link between the main braking system and the respective wheel sensors. This technology prevents wheels locking when the brakes are applied, maintaining vehicle stability and steering control during emergency manoeuvres. |

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
Standard on all Freelanders, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) balances the braking performance between front and rear axles for maximum braking efficiency and reduced risk of rear wheel lock. Even when Freelander is fully loaded or towing, hard braking is accomplished with balanced precision, ease and safety. |

Electronic Traction Control (ETC)
Electronic Traction Control (ETC) senses when wheel-slip is occurring and uses the braking system to help that wheel regain its grip. This also has the effect of increasing Torque to the opposite wheel, so maintaining and optimising Traction. ETC helps you keep maximum control even on snow, icy roads and wet or loose surfaces. |

Hill Descent Control (HDC)
Hill Descent Control (HDC) maintains an optimum controllable speed on steep descents. It not only helps make off-road driving simpler and safer for novice drivers, but can also be used to negotiate slippery ramps, for example when reversing down to hitch up a boat trailer. |

Immobiliser, alarm and security features
All Freelanders feature an engine immobiliser which is only deactivated when the key is inserted into the ignition. In addition, the central door locking system – conveniently operated at the touch of a button – activates the perimetric alarm system guarding all the doors and the bonnet. A volumetric alarm – sensing intrusion within the interior – can also be specified. For added security, locking wheel nuts are available on all Freelanders fitted with alloy wheels. |
